Hot Air Balloon Card - Sweet Centers

Happy Friday Stampers!  Actually I'm not really happy that it's already Friday.  This means I only have just over a week to wrap up my prep work for the Holiday Marathon Workshop at Carrie Blake Park with Doodlebugs.  I'm really nervous now.....  My mom is visiting us from Japan right now and she has been helping with my prep work.  I hope we will have some time to do something else besides cutting paper, ribbons and counting buttons, mini jingle bells, etc.  It's sure nice to see my mom play with our boys.  She played Nintendo Wii with our five-year old son for the first time in her xx years.  Yeah, she made me promise not to tell her age on my blog!!!

Anyway I wanted to show off this cute card I received a few weeks ago from my Mega Upline Jill Olsen.  Isn't it adorable?  I love the color combination - never thought about putting these three colors (Pool Party, Island Indigo, and Calypso Coral) together.  Don't you love when you look at a card and find out you already have the stamp set to make the card?  The stamp set used to make this card is the Sweet Centers (see page 60).  This is a great stamp set to use with our Treat Cups (see page 182) too.

If you would like to find out more about the Holiday Marathon Workshop at Carrie Blake Park in Sequim, here is the info.  There are only a few tickets left.  Stop by at Doodlebugs today to get yours before it's gone!
Thank you for stopping by.  Have a great weekend!

Be Thankful Party Favors

I had so much fun with my monthly Card Club ladies Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.  They are so energetic and get me going each month.

We created these "Be Thankful" party favors and two cards at this month's workshops.  I love Mr. Turkey!  He is one of the stamps called "Gift Givers" from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  YES, there is a coordinating punch!!!  The Curly Label punch will make it easy for you.  In fact, they were happy to hear that at the workshops especially I made them cut the medallion image with a pair of their scissors on one of the cards we did.

I like this color combination (More Mustard and Soft Suede). We used the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punch for the front and back pieces. The same punch we used for the rosette at my Big Shot workshop last week (see below).  We cut off three scallops to have the bottom flat.

To make the base for the "Be Thankful" party favor, cut and score your card stock as follows:
  1. Cut card stock to 5-3/4" x 2-1/4".
  2. Score at 1/4", 1-1/4", 3" and 4" on the 5-3/4" side.
  3. Score at 1" on the 2-1/4" side.
  4. Cut off the smaller rectangle section of the 1/4" tab.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Day of Gratitude Happy Thanksgiving Card

Happy Friday!  Hope you are not tired of my projects with the Day of Gratitude Stamp Set yet.  I keep making more projects with this stamp set.  Can you tell that's my favorite set right now?

I had so much fun yesterday with the Fabulous Five ladies at their monthly workshop and this is one of the cards we made.

To get the multiple colors for the medallion image, first we stamped the image in Whisper White Craft ink on a piece of Early Espresso card stock.  Then we colored it with Stampin' Pastels using sponge daubers.  The colors are More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie and Always Artichoke.  After coloring it we used a small piece of Swiffer (dry sweeping cloths) to take excess pastels.  We cut out the image with a pair of scissors (sorry there is no punch!!!) and added a decorative brad (Antique Brads) in the center.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you like my card and try this technique.  It's fun to watch the colors appear on the paper.  Have a great weekend!

Family Chore Chart

Hi there!  I thought I'd post something different today.  It's been a long time since I created this family chore chart but I remember I had so much fun doing it.

Stampin' Up! Decor Elements Vinyl products make it so easy and quick for any creative projects.  For this project I transferred the Chore Chart (vinyl) onto a cork sheet (119819).  It was really easy.

The flowers are die cuts using the Fun Flowers Bigz L Die and some of them are embossed as you can see.  The flower die has three flower shapes in three sizes so you can layer them together nicely.

If you haven't tried Stampin' Up! Decor Elements products, I hope you will give it a try.  It's fun and easy.  They make fabulous gifts too!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day!

This is one of the three projects that we are doing at my Big Shot workshops this month.  There are a few spots still available for Thursday night (Oct. 13th) if you are interested.  Here are the other two projects:

New Class Announcement

Happy Monday!  Hope you had a fabulous weekend.  This is a late post but I just finished making the sample projects for my new class I came up with over the weekend.  You never know how or when I come up with crazy ideas.  Trust me....you don't want to know!

Last week I baked some cookies using the Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps for my Big Shot workshop.  Oh Boy!  I was so impressed with the result of my cookies.  I was curious how the Pressed Cookie Stamps would make a good impression in cookie dough???  Obviously I had never done that before.  Here is the picture of my cookies!

Not bad, yeah???  Anyway I thought it would be fun to have a class sampling some cookies and making fun projects just in time for the holiday seasons.

Scallop Square Thanksgiving Card

Happy Saturday!  Hope you are having a great weekend.  Here is another project we did at my Big Shot workshop this week.  I love this color combination - Soft Suede, More Mustard, Pool Party and Very Vanilla.  The Spice Cake Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog is the perfect choice to accommodate all these colors.  I don't remember when I used the More Mustard card stock last time (or have I ever used it?) because my scrap folder for the More Mustard was totally empty when I reached to get some scrap paper.  Anyway I really like the More Mustard color!

The leaf images are from the Gently Falling stamp set in the Holiday Mini Catalog.   We stamped the outline image of the leaf in Soft Suede first and then stamped the solid image in Pool Party/Pear Pizzazz.  Using the clear-mount stamps make it very easy to accomplish this nearly perfect.

The embossed oval frame is one of the embossing folders in the Designer Frames Embossing Folder Set.  It's a brand-new item in the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog.  The oval shape coordinates with the Extra-Large Oval Punch.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a fabulous weekend!

Spice Cake Explosion Box

Hi Stampers!  I had a fun night with my Scrapbook Club girls last night creating this beautiful explosion box.  I don't remember exactly how many times I heard them saying "I love this paper".  The Spice Cake DSP is a brand-new patterned paper pack in the Holiday Mini Catalog and has absolutely beautiful colors of a cool autumn season.  It's my favorite product in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

It's fairly easy and simple to make this explosion box. The base of the box is made with a 12" x 12" piece of Soft Suede card stock and scored at 4" and 8" on all four sides. If you like to stamp on the outside of the box, now is a good time to do so. And then place your card stock flat and cut the 4" scored line between the 8" scored line from the bottom and the first section where the two score lines meet using a pair of scissors or paper trimmer.   Turn your paper 90 degrees and do the same as before to cut all four sections.  Fold on all scored lines and your box should form like this.

Now it's the fun part!  Decorate your box as you wish.  We cut some card stock and patterned paper to 3 3/4" squares.  We used three sets of stamps, buttons, ribbon, brads, and even embossed with the Big Shot.

To make the lid we used a 6 5/8" x 6 5/8" piece of More Mustard card stock and scored at 1 1/4" on all four sides. You will need to cut the same four sections as you do for the base to form your lid.  Don't forget to embellish your lid!

I hope you will try to make this explosion box.  Please leave me a comment or questions you may have.  I would love to hear from you.
