25 & Counting Advent Calendar

Hi there!  This is my 25 & Counting Advent Calendar I created using the amazing new Peekaboo Frames die with the Big Shot from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  I had a class for this project right before Thanksgiving holiday and it was a lot of fun.

I love the Stampin' Up! Peekaboo Frames die!  You can peek inside of several squares to see what's hidden behind the window.  How fun!

This Peekaboo Frames die is very versatile too.  I used the scallop square die-cut piece for my Shaker Card as shown above.

Don't forget.....today is the final day of the Stampin' Up! Christmas Scrapbook Wreath

Hi Stampers!  Hope you had a great weekend.  I'm glad it's Monday....finally it's the time to send my boys back to school.  Yeah!!!

Here is the Scrapbook Club project that I promised last week.  This is a photo of the Scrapbook Wreath when closed.  Notice the button how it is close to the book.  To open the book, you just need to slide the button.  Then the book likes to open like a wreath.  After opened completely, you need to slide the button close to the book again to secure it.

For the Scrapbook Wreath we used 5 squares of 8 1/2" card stock in 3 colors (Riding Hood Red, Marina Mist and Old Olive) but you can change the size to any size you wish.

There are so many squares and triangles that you can decorate with photos, die cuts, stamps, patterned paper, etc.  I can't wait to complete mine with my family photos of this year's Christmas!!!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a fantastic week!

Diamond Fold Christmas Card

Hi Stampers!  I just realized that I haven't shared this unique card we made last week at my Card Club workshops.  It "looks" complicated but it's not really.  It requires some paper folding technique which I found this video tutorial on Splitcoaststampers.

The stamp set we used for this card is one of my favorites from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  There is something about the Pines and Poinsettias set I was really impressed with.  Especially when I stamped the pine cone image with Stampin' Markers (Wild Wasabi, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler), the image sort of "popped out" amazingly.

We also played with the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint to stamp the flourish and the big poinsettias images.  First we applied the Shimmer Paint directly onto the flourish image with a sponge dauber and stamped it at each corner as a background.  To stamp the big poinsettias image,  we mixed some Shimmer Paint and Crumb Cake Classic Refill in a plastic palette for a darker color.  Then we applied the ink directly onto the stamp with a sponge dauber.  It's hard to see it but the images are very shinny because of the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint.  It's a "must have" product!

Christmas Keepsake Box Special Offer...still available!

The Pines and Poinsettias stamp set is perfect to embellish your Christmas Keepsake Box!

Northern Flurry Embossed Card

Brrrrrr.... It's snowing here this morning.  It's pretty to look at but I'm hoping it's not going to stay......

Since it's snowing, I thought this would be a perfect card to share with you today.  I made this card with the Fabulous Five ladies last week.  It's very simple and quick AND so beautiful.  The front of this card has a piece of Vellum Card Stock (thicker than normal vellum) adhered on top.  Before adhering to the card, we embossed it on Big Shot using the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder and added some Basic Rhinestones.

The sentiment stamp is from the Perfect Punches set.  It's hard to see but we stamped it on a piece of Shimmery White Paper in Cherry Cobbler ink.  The Shimmery White Paper adds more sparkles to the snowflakes.  It's so PRETTY!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Reindeer Gift Card Holder

Good Morning!  It's so cold this morning here in the Pacific Northwest.  Our small pond is partially frozen....brrrr.  I think I would like to stay inside and scrapbook today.  Maybe not.  I have to get ready for tonight's Card Club workshop.  Speaking of scrapbooking, I had a fun night with my Scrapbook Club gals last night.  We made a cool mini book which I promise to share sometime this week here on my blog.  So stay tuned....

Every year for Christmas I try to come up with new cool ideas for gift card holders.  To make this one, I used the Two Tags die for the card base and embellished the front cover with Mr. Reindeer.  You can make him using the Stocking Builder punch.  Isn't he cute?

To open the holder, you just need to slide the button so that the top of the holder will open wide.  When designing this holder,  I decided to tie a knot so that you can hang it on your Christmas tree.  I love the Letters to Santa Designer Series Paper.  First I was not sure about it (shhhhh...don't tell Stampin' Up! I said that!).  I love the color combination even with pink (Blushing Bride) in it!

Here are the instructions for the card holder base:
  1. Cut card stock to 3" x 12" and score at 4 3/4", 6" and 7 1/4".
  2. Fold card stock in half at 6" score line first and then fold at 4 3/4" and 7 1/4" score lines in opposite way creating a letter "M" (mountain, valley and mountain).
  3. Place card stock on the Two Tags die having the folded bottom of card stock right above the bottom line of the Large Tag shape so that the folded bottom will not be cut out when running through Big Shot.
  4. Open card holder and punch an opening for gift card with the Word Window punch.  To do this, place the punch in the center of the folded section only half way in and then punch out.  You need to move your punch to left and right a few times until your opening is wide enough to insert a gift card.
Hope you will try this card holder technique for your Christmas.   Please feel free to leave me a comment.

Desktop Calendar with a Storage Case

Happy Monday!  Hope you are having a good Monday.  My last week was not much fun spending 3 days to clean and reorganize a huge mess from the Holiday Marathon Workshop at Carrie Blake.  Sorry I only had a few blog posts last week.  Now you know what I was doing!

I did have some fun though last week with the Fabulous Five ladies.  We had a wonderful lunch at a restaurant first.  Then we came to my studio and made two Christmas cards.  It was a lovely afternoon.  In fact, I would say "life is pretty good!".

I did have another good thing...one more recruit!  I'm so glad that she took advantage of the Big Shot Promotion.  She is going to have so much fun!!!!

Let's talk about the Desktop Calendar project we did at the Holiday Marathon Workshop. The structure of this calendar is a variation of an easel card.  It becomes flat so that you can put in an envelope and mail it as a gift.  The stamp set used is the Field Flowers from the 2011-12 Idea Book and Catalog.  I love the color combination (Calypso Coral, Soft Suede, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla).  Did you know there are 24 (not 12) sheets of patterned paper in a pack of the First Edition Specialty Paper?  I didn't till I opened my pack!  It's very inexpensive!  You can make 24 gifts (Desktop Calendar AND the Storage Case)  with one single pack of this paper assortment.  You will have plenty of left over paper too.

Don't you love how Stampin' Up!'s clear-mount stamps come in a slim case?  We dressed up the same case to store the Desktop Calendar.  They are available for purchase and come in a pack of 4 empty cases.  They are fantastic to organize and store any way you would like.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful week!

Supply List

Paper - Soft Suede, Calypso Coral, Very Vanilla, First Edition Specialty Paper

Recessed Petals-A-Plenty Christmas Card

Good Morning, Stampers!  Here is one of the projects I created for the Holiday Marathon Workshop at Carrie Blake.  It has a really cool technique using the "Petals-A-Plenty" Embossing Folder.  As you can see, it has a recessed oval shape in the center of the Whisper White card stock so that you can stamp directly on the flat surface.  In order to do this, you will need to make a Chipboard Template.

Here is how I made mine using the Stampin' Up! Scallop Oval Frame die (#114521, page 222).
  1. Cut Chipboard to 4 1/2" x 5 3/4" and set aside.  This is your Chipboard Template.  Tip:  Make sure to use a THICK chipboard piece.  Stampin' Up!'s On Board Sheets (chipboard sheets) are perfect for this.
  2. Take another piece of chipboard or card stock to die-cut the oval shape from the Scallop Oval Frame die.
  3. Place your oval shape onto your Chipboard Template (4 1/2" x 5 3/4") and place it in the center.  Using a pencil, trace the oval shape and cut it out with an exact knife.
Now you need to be a little bit creative to use this Chipboard Template on your Big Shot.  Since you are adding the thickness of the Chipboard Template, you need to change the way how you sandwich everything on the Multipurpose Platform.
  1. Use the Tab 2 of the Multipurpose Platform.  (Normally you use the Tab 1 for regular embossing.)
  2. Place a piece of card stock in the center of your embossing folder and close.
  3. Hold your embossing folder, Chipboard Template and one Cutting Pad together in your hand.  Carefully place all pieces on the Multipurpose Platform and run through your Big Shot making sure that your Chipboard Template is not sliding off.
It's hard to see from the picture above but the sentiment is heat-embossed with the Cherry Cobbler Emboss Powder.  At the Holiday Marathon Workshop they had two embossing colors (Cherry Cobbler and Pewter) to choose from.  I like the deep red color of the Cherry Cobbler but there is something I really like about this brand-new Pewter Emboss Powder.  I don't know how to explain but it really neat to see how the Pewter color appears beautifully when embossing.  It is AMAZING!

I hope you like this recessed technique and try it yourself.  Please feel free to leave a comment.
Happy Stamping!
